Central Bearden Deacon Ministry
- The ministry of the deacon has its origin in the first years of the church Jesus began building in Jerusalem. (Acts 6: 1-7)
- Deacons are men and women of God who are appointed by the church to serve the people of the Church. A deacon recognizes and responds to the
practical needs and concerns that arise in the daily life of the Church.
- The term “deacon” is not a title; it is a service ministry and as such, involves active participation.
- The biblical qualifications for a deacon are found in Acts 6 and in I Timothy 3.
These scriptures provide the best description of “… how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth” (1 Timothy 3:15).
- In addition to the biblical qualifications, there are also practical gifts that are
good for a deacon to possess for the service and ministry they will be called to perform. These include: Ability to Listen, Imagination, Compassion, Ingenuity, Courage, Kindness, Desire to Serve, Love, Generosity, Patience, Genuine Interest in Other’s Needs, Perseverance, Humility
What do deacons do?
Our deacon teams play a vital role in supporting their Church community.
They often assist in organizing and facilitating worship services, ensuring that
all elements run smoothly and harmoniously. Beyond the logistics, Deacons
provide spiritual guidance and care, offering prayers, counsel, and
encouragement to members of the congregation. Their dedication helps
foster a sense of unity and shared purpose, strengthening the bonds within
the Church and inspiring others to live out their faith.
Central Bearden divides the service of deacons into various teams to carry out the ministry of the church.
